NIC-nummer (Numéro Interne de Classement)

The NIC Number (Numéro Interne de Classement) is an identification number assigned to each establishment of a company in France. The NIC consists of 5 digits and, together with the SIREN number, forms the complete SIRET number.

When a company has multiple establishments, each establishment receives its own NIC number. This allows the different establishments to be identified separately within the same company.

How is the NIC Number Structured?

The SIRET number consists of 14 digits:

  • The first 9 digits correspond to the company's SIREN number.
  • The last 5 digits correspond to the establishment's NIC number.

The NIC number therefore makes it possible to identify exactly which establishment is concerned.

What is a NIC Number Used For?

The NIC number is used for the administrative identification of establishments and forms part of the official SIRET number.

It plays a role in:

  • Social security and tax formalities.
  • Payroll administration.
  • Invoicing.
  • Registrations with French government authorities.
  • The identification of establishments within a company.
